UMICH Bioinformatics Core

Overview of Services

Bioinformatics Analysis: We work with research scientists (faculty, staff, post-docs and graduate students) to provide analysis of their high-throughput sequencing, proteomics, gene expression, metabolomics and other biological data.

Consulting – We will meet with you prior to experiments to discuss the types of analysis and bioinformatics support we can provide for you. We will also help you in designing experiments to ensure that you get the best possible data analysis outcomes you need. We are also available to meet with you during your grant proposal preparation to help you incorporate the required bioinformatics support for your research plan which reflect the complexity of the data analysis and help convince reviewers of the strength of your proposal.

Data analysis – For genome resequencing, ChIP-Seq transcription factor analysis, RNA-Seq analysis, de novo assembly, metagenomic assembly, and gene set enrichment and custom bioinformatics analysis.

Application development – We work with individual scientists to develop custom applications which will enhance their research through database development, web
applications for data analysis and/or visualization, and web services interfaces to large databases, and custom analysis tools.

Assistance in preparing bioinformatics support for grant applications – If the research project will use significant bioinformatics support, we will assist in writing that portion of research grants and then use a portion of the grant support to fund individuals who will work on that grant if/when funded.

Training – Coming soon! We will be developing training programs to assist researchers in learning the computational tools that can be translated back to their labs.
